One of the interesting things is the Alexa ranking has dropped after the initial flurry.

I have also created several other sub-domains, not only on 1ton, but on other domains I own.  These are niche areas which are more specific to the UK as there is less competition there.  I have included the total income since I started from all of the other domains/sub-domains from Adsense, Ebay, Clickbank and Amazon.  Also the visitors figures are up to the end of December 2008.

I have now changed the link checking software I use as I have found something which I think is far better.  If you want to try it, you can get it here for nothing.  1 Ton Link Buzz

Also, if you have ever thought about creating your own Niche social networking site, have a look at Social Niche Builder.  OK, you won’t create the next MySpace or Facebook with it, but with work you could make a half decent Social Networking site.  It does require some tweaking, so knowledge of HTML is definitely required!!

It was released a few weeks ago and was included as one of the tools in the Thirty Day Challenge. Currently it is still being developed, but even in the pre full version release I have to say it is one one the best tools I have seen if you are serious about niche marketing on the internet. It is called Market Samurai. I am not even going to attempt to describe what it can do here. I would just say go to the website and check it out. One of the things it has allowed me to do is keyword research for a particular niche. Armed with the information I have managed to get one of the 1ton sub-domains a Google PR of two. The sub-domain has only been up since July 17, so not a bad effort. It is also listed in DMOZ without any intervention on my part. It ranks number 5 out of 182,000 on a broadmatch search in Google and number 5 on phrasematch search out of 34,400. The sub-domain had received 929 unique visitors during September with a total of 2323 visits. 876 of these unique visits were from Google. OK, I guess you are wondering which sub-domain it is?? Funny Limericks For Everyone The keyword used is guess what? funny limericks. Check the results yourself in Google search. This sub-domain is not going to allow me to retire in luxury, but it has proved the effectiveness of Market Samurai. At the moment you can download the trial version which lasts for 40 days. The price for the full version will be $149 when it is released.

Back to the overall progress. A little late, but traffic for September is shown below.

I will try submitting the sub-domains that haven’t been indexed and see what happens to them.

Progress on the Joomla site is slow as the garden is demanding my attention.  I have decided to shelve the idea of providing a blogging platform on the site for the time being, but will look at it again in the future.

If you are looking for unlimited hosting, why not check out HostMonster.COM. This is who I have this domain with.   Their cPanel makes it an absolute breeze to add sub-domains, mysql databases and there are heaps of built in tools.  I have raised support tickets with them (the probelms were mine) and their response was rapid to say the least.  Far better than another hosting company I have been using.  I can’t rate them highly enough.
